Construction Law and Litigation

Our construction law group forms a natural linkage among our real estate, technology and litigation groups, drawing from those specialties while focusing on issues relating to construction industry clients. The core of this group has prior extensive law firm experience in substantial construction and environmental law and litigation matters for many brand-name local, regional and national clients, several of whom are noted in our representative clients list in this brochure. Three engineering degrees and a professional engineering license enhance the group’s capabilities.

The group’s legal services to the construction industry in the metropolitan New York area, as well as beyond, include the representation of contractors, construction managers, engineers, architects and governmental authorities on major projects in both the public and private sectors. Typical of such projects are the construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction of bridges, tunnels, highways, power plants, water and sewage treatment plants, institutional and privately owned buildings.

Principal areas of specialization encompass construction and environmental claims prosecution and defense through trials, arbitrations, administrative boards and appellate proceedings; similar representation in architect and engineer professional liability suits; and contracts development and negotiations, as well as business counseling, during the planning, design, funding, bidding and construction phases of heavy and building projects.

Yet, at all times, our construction law group is mindful of your business needs, which are of paramount importance in determining the best course of action when a construction dispute arises, to assure that our client achieves the optimum viable result at the earliest possible time and at the least cost. That philosophy, which is imbued in our practice, is a principal reason for the existence of our group’s long standing client relationships in the construction industry.
